Rex Haney

Rex Haney, 69, of Jonesboro, died May 25, 2012 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Doniphan, Missouri and had lived in Memphis, Wirth, Arkansas, and Southaven, Mississippi before moving to Jonesboro in 1999. He attended school in Doniphan, Missouri where he was named Mr. DHS in 1960. He was a retired car dealer, having owned CarRex in Jonesboro, Memphis Auto World, and America Auto Sales. He had worked as a typesetter for newspapers in Doniphan, Pine Bluff, Blytheville, and Memphis. He was a former member of The Pentecostal Church of Memphis and attended Temple Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He loved hunting, golf, and watching the Cardinals and Memphis Grizzlies. He enjoyed reading books authored by John Grisham and James Patterson.

Rex is survived by his wife of 13 years, Faye Haney, Jonesboro; his children, Roger (Elise) Haney, Memphis, Stacy (Phillip) Marshall, Olive Branch, Karin Haney, Horn Lake; grandchildren, Mason Haney, Kennedy Haney, Cooper Haney, Austin Marshall, Lana Marshall; brothers, Roger (Marlene) Haney, Mammoth Spring, Marion (Luene) Haney, Jackson, Missouri; sister, Linda (Lendel) Hall, Poplar Bluff; stepsons, Tommy (Leslie) Fowler, Jonesboro, Patrick Fowler, Maumelle; step grandchildren, Cory May, Kaylyn Dickey; the mother of his children, Sue Haney; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Emmett & Alice Gluda Trillingham Haney; and an infant daughter, Valinda Michelle Haney.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Andy Neal and Waymon Holt officiating. Phillip Marshall will serve as eulogist. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
