Reverend Thurman Holt

Reverend Thurman Holt, 73, of Brookland, Arkansas died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his home. He had lived in the Jonesboro area most of his life and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas. Reverend Holt pastored 13 churches and spent seven years in the evangelistic ministry. During his ministry of 54 years, he helped organize three churches in Arkansas: Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Rector; Temple Baptist Church, Jonesboro; and Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Ravenden Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, five sisters, and one grandchild.

Reverend Holt is survived by his wife, Brenda Holt, of the home; sons, Barry Holt and wife Toni; Byron Holt and wife Christina, all of Jonesboro; Kevin Holt, Denton, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Holt Barnette and husband David, Frisco, Texas; brothers, Waymon Holt, Milligan Ridge, Arkansas; Raymond Holt, Blytheville, Arkansas; sister Luda Lewis, Paragould, Arkansas; grandchildren, Kyle Barnette, Ryan Barnette, Kelia Holt, Shauna Holt, Heather Ramsey, and Ashlynn Holt.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 24, 2009 at Temple Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Jolly, Reverend Luther “Jack” Bearden, Reverend Waymon Holt, Reverend Matthew Donner, Reverend Paul White, and Reverend Chris Saito with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery with Jerry Dorton, Ronald Holt, Bradley Fultz, Bennie Minton, Terry McNatt, and Tim McNatt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Scotty Holt and all ministers. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Emerson Funeral Home.
