Rev. Harold B. Ray, 88, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Valdosta, Georgia, Rev. Ray was a graduate of Wilson High School and earned a BS degree from Arkansas State University. He received a Master degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and began his ministry in Blytheville. In 1964 Bro. Harold moved to Nettleton Baptist Church and pastored 17 years there before being named the Director of Missions for the Mt. Zion Baptist Association where he served 29 years.

Bro. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cullins Ray; parents: W.B. and Evie Murphy Ray, and 14 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Phyllis Jean and Mark Tomlinson of Jonesboro;
2 sons and daughters-in-law: U.S. Air Force (Ret) Col. Joel D. and Karen Ray of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Timothy C. and Kathy Ray of Jonesboro;
4 grandchildren and their spouses: Allison and Matt Gragg, Megan and Tony Morrow, Lacey and Trenton Hoggard and Neeley Ray;
5 great grandchildren: Braxton Gragg, Bryce Gragg, Rae Morrow, Jackson Morrow, Lucy Hoggard and another great granddaughter to arrive in March; and
a special bonus family friends: Kathy and Larry Newberry, Mark Newberry and Stephen, Marci and Asher Newberry.

Visitation will be 3:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Nettleton Baptist Church, 7001 E. Johnson in Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Nettleton Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers include Royce Leonard, Lynn Tackett, Gerald Barker, John Burris, Donald Showalter and Dale Miller.

Honorary pallbearers include Albert Soo, Mick Boling, Bob Mooneyham, Tom Stafford and Don Miller.
