Rev. Paul N. Lawrence, 84, of Jonesboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2016. He was born on June 7, 1931 in Georgetown, Arkansas to the late O.N. and Annie Lawrence. Bro. Lawrence started his ministry as a leader for the Church of God youth. He was a pastor for 62 years and served as Regional State Overseer for the State of Arkansas and Missouri from 1993-2004 and for Kansas and Nebraska from 1997- 2004. He retired from his position as pastor in 2014.
Bro. Lawrence was known as a “builder of churches”, he gave everything he could to help the ministry. He was also a farmer, retired Postal Worker, and a member of the Southwest Church of God. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David Lawrence and Herman Lawrence; sister, Minnie Boyer; son, Tommy Lawrence; and daughter, Silvia Ann Lawrence.
Rev. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara Staggs Lawrence; son, Terry Lawrence; daughter, Debbra Wilcox (Jim); brother, Dwight Lawrence; sister, Rachel Cypret; grandchildren, Heath Wilcox (Kristi) and Paul Wilcox; great grandchildren, Cady, Anna, Christian, Emerson, and Kal.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 11, 2016 with Rev. Gary Barker officiating with Rev. Danny Gartman and Rev. Dewayne Smith. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Heath Wilcox, Jim Wilcox, Darek Gartman, Jay Parnell, Garry Lawrence, and Jimmy Washington. The honorary pallbearers will be Elden Gartmen, T.H. Birdsong, Robert F. Davis, and the Ministers of the Church of God.
The visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Monday.
