Rev. Joel Wesley Clark, 79, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Thursday evening, December 8, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Monette, Arkansas, Rev. Clark lived several years in Joplin, Missouri before moving to Jonesboro 16 years ago. He was a retired Assembly of God Minister, serving as pastor in Washburn, Missouri, Union, Missouri and 2nd Assembly of God in Joplin.
Rev. Clark served as Sectional Presbyter in the Sullivan Section and Joplin Section of the Southern Missouri District of the Assemblies of God. He also served as Chaplain and Hospice Volunteer for St. John’s Hospital in Joplin.
He was a member of the Wood Street Assembly of God in Jonesboro where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class, and also served as supply minister for several area churches.
Rev. Clark was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II and the Korean War and was a graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Lorette Hairrell Clark of the home;
1 Daughter and son-in-law: Dora and Ted Weiss of Bismarck, Missouri;
1 Son and daughter-in-law: Joel Lynn and Judith Clark of Paragould;
1 Sister: Wanda Hundley of Lee Summit, Missouri;
1 Brother: Guy Clark of Paragould;
3 Grandchildren: Joel Lynn Clark, Jr., Cari Jo Luttrell and Travis James Weiss; and
3 Great Grandchildren: Frank Clark, Emma Clark and Bailee Luttrell.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Paul Bean, Ray Hundley, Vernie Harris and Robbie Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include: Dennis Smith, Paul Bean, Jr., Joel Clark, Jr., Travis Weiss,
Jason Luttrell and Josh Bean.
Honorary pallbearers will Adult Sunday School class members.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5-7 at Emerson Funeral Home.
