Reuben Dale Reaves, 97, of Jonesboro, died Saturday evening, October 15, 2011, at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro.
Born in Harrisburg to Charlie and Lee Nora Newsom Reaves, Dale moved to Jonesboro in 1940. He was a retired staff manager for Craighead Electric Cooperative where he worked for 39 years. He was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.
Dale was an active member of Gideons International, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Casebier Reaves, his second wife, Lura Watkins Davidson Reaves, by a daughter, Mary Jane Reaves Martin, by a step daughter, Reta Davidson Tielens, by a son-in-law, Ralph Edward Simmons, by a brother, Earl Reaves, and a sister, Jane Anzalone.
Survivors include 1 son and daughter-in-law: Charles and Joe Ann Reaves of Rogers;
2 daughters and son-in-law: Bettye and John Darter of Jonesboro, and Rebecca Simmons of Rector;
9 grandchildren: Rich Reaves, Lisa Reaves, Greg Darter, Dana Darter Boyster, Jody Simmons, John Simmons, Cary Simmons, Eddy Martin, and Chell Martin Wester;
12 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 until service time in Emerson Chapel.
