Retha Annette Mcgarity

Retha Annette McGarity, 73, of Jonesboro, passed away on October 31, 2024 at NEA Baptist Hospital. Retha was born in West Helena on February 5, 1951, to the late Lloyd and Delores Roach. In addition to her parents, Retha is preceded in death by her brother Howard Bradford, sister RoseAnne, son Billy Vaughn, and daughter-in-law Lisa Vaughn.

Retha spent her entire life in Arkansas but called several different towns home. She spent many years in Little Rock before moving to Walnut Ridge. While in Walnut Ridge, Retha worked at Hays grocery store for nearly 30 years. In recent years, she lived in Jonesboro with her daughter. A God-fearing woman, Retha loved Jesus and her home church at Faith Tabernacle in Hoxie. She was also fond of arts and crafts. Retha was exceptionally talented with crocheting and writing songs and poems. Most importantly, she loved her family and helping her children.

Retha is survived by her son William Vaughn of Gordonsville, TN; daughter Christina Hattenhauer (Greg Holt) of Jonesboro; brother Mike Taylor (Donna) of Lonoke; sisters Theresa Flowers (Millard) & Lee Kemp of Lonoke and Susan of Kansas; grandchildren Sarah & Summer Vaughn of Gordonsville, TN, and Adrian (Mikaylin) & JD Warner of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren Grant, William, Nollan, and Braylin; close family friend Nina Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, November 4, 2024, at Pine Hill Cemetery with Bro. Craig Adams officiating.
