Retha Lackey

February 1, 1944 — November 22, 2016

Retha M. Lackey, 72, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Retha was born in Jonesboro and lived all of her life here. She was a 1962 graduate of Bono High School and began a 29 year career with St. Bernards Medical Center in 1976. Retha retired as Assistant Vice President of Nutritional Services and Director of Materials Management. She was a member of the Voluntary Hospitals of America; was past president of the Arkansas Hospital Association of Purchasing Managers; she was past chair of the St. Bernards Christmas Parade float committee; past chair of St. Bernard's Evening of Music Celebration and past chair of the St. Bernard's Doctors Christmas Party Extravaganza.

Retha enjoyed golfing, spending time at Lake Norfork and entertaining her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Billy Dale and Nettie Robertson King; brother, David Paul King; and brother-in-law, Jim Lackey.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Brooks Lackey, married October 22, 1962;
1 daughter and son-in-law: Selena and Chris Bloodworth of Jonesboro;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Michelle Lackey of Jackson, Tennessee;
1 sister, Mary Lackey of Jonesboro;
1 brother and sister-in-law: Billy James and Nettie King of Newnan, Georgia; and
4 grandchildren: Bret (Madison) Bloodworth, Kasen Bloodworth, Skylar Lackey and Sydney Lackey.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Highland Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Hutchison officiating. A private family committal service in Unity Cemetery will precede the memorial service.

Active pallbearers include Earl Duffel, Jim Penny, Charles Burge, Gary Eubanks, James Jones and Bruce Barnes. The family gives special thanks to the entire staff of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for the professional and compassionate care of Retha.

Visitation will follow the service at the church.
