Regina A. Baswell

March 6, 1951 — September 22, 2020

Regina Baswell, 69, of Bono, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born to Lemuel “Bill” and Mary “Bea” Baswell on March 6, 1951 in Jonesboro.


Regina graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1969 and attended Arkansas State University. She served in the US Navy from 1975-1977 and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer. Regina enjoyed a career as a Corrections Officer in Nevada, before ultimately retiring from the Grimes Unit with the Arkansas Department of Corrections in Newport, Arkansas. The time that Regina spent in the military and serving with the Department of Corrections were some of the best memories of her life.


Regina also enjoyed singing, whether it be with her church or with her college group “Second Touch.” Music always brought joy to her life. Regina is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bea Baswell; and grandparents, Stacy & Eunice Baswell and Marion & Elizabeth Lee Cooper.


Regina is survived by her son, Marvin Pickett (Shannon) of Jonesboro; brother, Howard Baswell of Hardy; sisters, Billy Jean Pizzano of Jonesboro, Ramona Gordon (Richard) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Vickie Baswell-Massengill of Ft. Myers, Florida; and a special cousin, David Emerson of Bono. Regina is also survived by three granddaughters, Hali K Peacock, Monique Mosley, and Kyla Pickett; and a host of other family and friends.


The visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020, at North Main Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
The funeral service will start at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at North Main Baptist Church with Bro. Jarrid McGrew officiating. Nurzuhal Faust will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


Active pallbearers being Joe Page, Chad Davis, Jerry “ Chubbles” Howard, Landell Smith, Buddy Hill, and Dexter Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and management at the Grimes Unit in Newport, Aaron Milligan and Jimmy Coleman.


For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 400 East St., Jonesboro, AR 72401.


Covid19 Guidelines provided by the Arkansas Department of Health for indoor gatherings will be in effect for the visitation and funeral service on Friday. Those guidelines include the wearing of a face mask or covering and social distancing while inside the church building.
