Rebecca "Becky" Cater

Rebecca “Becky” Cater, 83, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Skilcare Nursing Center. She had lived in Jonesboro since 1961, moving here from her birthplace, Birmingham, Alabama. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at Auburn University, and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority. Becky graduated from Auburn University and Arkansas State University and was a speech therapist for Jonesboro Public Schools. She was a member of Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary and the St. Bernard’s Auxiliary.

Mrs. Cater was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Cater; her parents O. W. and Rebecca Fraser; two sisters Jean Elliott and Mary Ford. Survivors include one son, Frank B. Cater Jr., Knoxville, Tennessee; two daughters, Elise Cater, Jonesboro, and Becky Adams, Brandon, Mississippi; one brother, O. W. Fraser Jr., Los Altos, California; two sisters, Edith Keith and Fey Rumbarger, both of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren, Ronald Chase Jenkins, Fraser Adams, Katy Cater, and Bradley Cater.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, May 22, 2009 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Father Brad Cunningham, Father Michael Mobley, and Father Limuel Parks officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time on Friday at Emerson Chapel.
