Robert Calvin “RC” Vanhoozer Jr, who was much loved, passed away from this world at the age of 63 on Monday, July 8, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1984, moving here from Sheridan, Arkansas. He retired from the Cotton Belt, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific Railroad with 30 years of service. He loved his job and the joy of work in general. RC’s hobbies included hunting, fishing with his grandkids, camping, boating at Greer’s Ferry Lake, and music. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Vanhoozer; parents Calvin and Nadine Vanhoozer.
Survivors include loving spouse of 35 years, Melinda Pierceall; sons, Justin Vanhoozer (Jennifer), and Shawn Vanhoozer; grandchildren, Maddie, Rhegan, Ethan, Sophie, Makenzie, and Vann; sisters, Jewel McCulley (Michael), Connie Schoggin (Danny), Sue Pierce (Donald), Cendie Thomas (Gerry), Karen Miller (Greg); and many nieces, nephews, devoted neighbors and a freight train load of loving family and friends .
