Raymond D. Wallace, 63, of Jonesboro, died Sunday evening at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Ashland, Mississippi, Raymond moved to Jonesboro in 1963 as an Associate with Fred’s Dollar Store. He later worked in store management with T G and Y and Gibson’s Discount Center where he retired.
Raymond was a member of the Church of Christ and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an avid hunter and gardener and was preceded in death by his parents: Zeke and Opal Stacks Wallace; 1 sister: Bonnie Hill; and by 2 brothers: Alton Wallace and twin brother Waymon Wallace.
Survivors include:
His wife of 43 years: Shirley Wallace of the home;
1 Daughter: Leigh Ann Wallace of Jonesboro;
4 Brothers: Gaston Wallace of Ripley, Mississippi,
Wade Wallace of Memphis,
Sherman Wallace of Richmond, Virginia, and
Dale Wallace of Sherwood, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include: Jerry “Freck” Barnes, Donnie Wise, Dan Melton,
Taylor Pillow, Carl Wise and Gerald George.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
