Ray Weaver, 68, a lifetime resident of Jonesboro, died on Friday, December 22, 2023, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Jonesboro on July 19, 1955, to Doyle and Doris Jean Weaver. He was of the Baptist belief. Ray served his country in the US Army’s CO-A 501ST Sig. BN of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. During college he was a member of the ATO fraternity at Austin Peay University. His hobbies included NASCAR and was an avid gun enthusiast. He loved art and his Rock n Roll music. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years; Deborah Weaver, of the home; son, Josh Pitman (Rachel) of Columbus, Mississippi; daughters, Candy Medlock (Toby) of Walnut Ridge; Jessie Weaver (Mitchell Layman) of Jonesboro; sister, Jane Willbanks of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Kaleb, Brayden, Addison, Chloe, Wesley, and Maddox; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Randall Moody and Rick Jaquess officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Bullock, Anthony Stricklin, Alan Armstrong, Steve Casper, Chris Willbanks. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time. Burial will be private.
