Ray McClure, 87 years, 6 months, and 11 days, of Paragould, died Monday, January 20, 2020 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital. He was born July 11, 1932 in Saddle, Arkansas to Joseph Thomas and Cliffie Virgil McClure. Ray was the second eldest child of five children. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church for 44 years, and a member of the Clark’s Chapel Baptist Church for the last 9 years.
Ray retired from Hytrol Conveyor in Jonesboro with 26-1/2 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was exceptionally good at that! His health failed before he could spoil those great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Nelson and Gene; one sister, Evelyn.
Ray is survived by his wife of 68-1/2 years, Naomi of the home; sons, Lennis McClure of Jonesboro; Lonnie McClure of Little Rock; daughter, Lena West and son-of-the-heart, Jerry West of Paragould; one sister, Barbara Jackson of West Plains, Missouri; five grandchildren, Christie, Nicole, April, Brandon and Jerron; twelve great grandchildren, Derrik, Emily, Jaclyn, Jarred, Kristopher, Katelyn, Jonna, Gavin, Logan, Nicolas, Baylee and Landyn; four great great grandchildren, Oakley, Xylen, EmileeLayne and Saylor.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday, January 24, 2020 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dennis Davis and Don Martin officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, on Highway 351, near Paragould; with great grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5-7 Thursday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his dear and caring roommate at the nursing home, Buddy. Also special thanks to Katrina, Tabetha, Rebecca, Melissa, Ashley and Myra for the loving care they gave Ray at the nursing home.
