Randy Lavon Penter

Randy Lavon Penter, 72, of Trumann, formerly of Black Oak passed from this life Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home. He was born in Black Oak on September 5, 1946 to the late Grant and Thelma Penter. Randy has lived in Trumann for over 37 years after coming from Black Oak.

Randy was a United States Navy Veteran, who served in two tours during the Vietnam War and he received several awards which included: National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Presidential Unit Commendation, and Active Combat Service Ribbon. He retired from Parker Hannifin Corporation after completing twenty years of service. The last five years of his life he worked in Cabinet making part-time. Randy enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Randy is preceded in death by his, two sisters: Reba and Sue; and brother: Nathaniel Penter.

Randy is survived by three sons, Justin (Amanda) Penter of Chillicothe, Texas, Bud Thomas and Jody Thomas both of Naylor, Missouri; daughter Jackie (Bruce) Cobb of Trumann; sister Joyce Thornell of Texas; thirteen grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery at Birdeye, Arkansas. Following the graveside service, dinner will be provided at Randy’s Home at 1 p.m. and everyone is provided.
