Randal Ephraim “Sleepy” Spurlock, 93, of Bay passed from this life Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab. He was born August 2, 1923 in King Mills to the late Bryan and Sylvia Spurlock. Randal was a 1943 graduate of Bay High School. He then entered into the Army serving for 18 months. After his service Randal went to Arkansas State College where he graduated with a degree in Teaching. Randal taught school for over 30 years in Missouri before retiring. He was a senior member of Bay United Methodist Church where he also taught Sunday school class for many years. Randal was always a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan and in his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing dominoes. An avid reader, he spent many hours studying his Bible.
In addition to his parents, Randal was preceded in death by 1 sister, Geraldine Spurlock Gammill; 3 brothers: Royce, Glenn and Murphy Spurlock; 3 nephews, Gary Gammill, Donnie Spurlock and Eddie Spurlock.
Survivors include his sister, Hattie Spurlock Hammett of Bay; 4 nieces: Kay Jones of Goreville, Illinois; Stacy Parks, Denise Looker both of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lura Spurlock of Kansas City, Missouri and 6 nephews: Joe Gammill, Ray Gammill both of Jonesboro, Gaylon Gammill of Paragould, Johnny Spurlock of Hardy, Mike Spurlock of Pocahontas and Marty Spurlock of Bryant.
Graveside service will be Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Donald Lewert officiating.
A memorial service will follow the graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Bay United Methodist Church.
