Ralph Mitchell Cox

July 29, 1919 — November 18, 2011

Ralph Mitchell Cox, 92, of Bono died November 18, 2011 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born in Bono and spent his life there. He was a member of Crossroads Mission Church and attended Trinity Church. He loved playing baseball and basketball. At one time he had played basketball for ASU and continued playing basketball while in the Air Force. He was a member of the Bono Buddies and had played against the Redheads and the Globe Trotters. He was also a member of a bowling league. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted anything that could be hunted. He also enjoyed camping.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Kathleen Cox, Bono; his children, Jimmy Wayne (Sue) Cox and Patricia Ann (Roy) Milner all of Bono. He is also survived by his sister, Blanche Edgar of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Pamela Elaine (Terry) Bolton, Troy Steven (Cara) Cox, Kimberlee (Craig) Johnson, Kerry Mitchell (Stacey) Milner; and great grandchildren, Jenny Deann Mayer, Drake Cullum, Christian Cullum, Kailey Milner, Braidyn Milner, Macy Milner, Mackenzi Wood, Tyler Wood, Madison Cox, Whitley Cox, and Cameron Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Harrison & Louisa Minerva Puckett Cox, a son, Gary Wayne Cox; 2 brothers, Roy Cox, Homer Cox; and 2 sisters, Lura Bustin and Alpha Minton.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Church with Steve Farmer, Jim Wilmoth, and Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery in Bono with military honors. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Troy Cox, Kerry Milner, Terry Bolton, Craig Johnson, Drake Cullum, Don Cox, and Benny Edgar.

Honorees will be John Marcom, Dr. Brannon Treece, Jack Gilbert, Bill Clark, Anna Ray & Lewis Cravens, Albert Richardson, Marion Stringer, Agnes & Cameron Mayberry, Jerry & Jean Akren, Gary Smith, Carl Williams, Jerome Armour, Linda Ellison, Bill & Mary Edna Booher, and nurse, Sherry Jarrett.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Church.

For lasting memorials, the family requests that consideration be given to the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House or John 3:16.
