Rachel Watkins Sims

Rachel Watkins Sims, 90, of Jonesboro, died Thursday morning, August 3, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born in the Lorado community north of Jonesboro, Mrs. Sims lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She was a retired Cosmetologist and operated Rachel’s Beauty Shop for 50 years.

Mrs. Sims was a charter member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for several years. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Louis Watkins; by her second husband: Ervin Sims; by her parents: Will and Sara Jennings Adams; and by the couple who raised her following her parents’ deaths: Jim and Verna Adams.

Survivors include:

3 Sons: Jerry Watkins of Rogers, Arkansas, Dale Watkins of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Norris Watkins of Jonesboro;

2 Step Sons: Bill Sims, and Jerry Sims, both of Jonesboro;

5 Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, August 5, 2006, at 2:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Bro. Rex Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers include: Jim Hardin, Hal Fields, Bill Sims, Jack McCann, David Watkins and Cleo Watkins, Jr.

Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 12:30-2:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
