Phyllis L. Newcom

Phyllis L. Bratton Newcom, 72, of Brookland, died Sunday September 17, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.

She was born in McCook, Nebraska and lived in Brookland for forty years moving here from Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was a retired Cell Technician for Colson Caster Corporation in Jonesboro and was of the Baptist belief. She was also active in the March of Dimes, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, United Way, and a volunteer in St. Bernard’s Auxiliary

She was preceded in death by her parents Phillip Scott and Pauline Meadows Scott, one son, Joe Bratton-Henson, three husband, three brothers, and one great granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Newcom of Brookland.

Two sons, Roy McCranie and his wife Becky of Trumann. Hank McCranie and his wife Cindy of Jonesboro.

Four daughters, Barbara Owens and her husband Bruce of Temple, TX. Kim Bratton Wilson and her husband Steve of Brookland. Dawn Bratton Pate and her husband David of Brookland. Paulette Dacus of Mesa, AZ

Two brothers, Richard Scott, of Portsmouth, NH. Jerry Scott, of Magnolia, DE.

One sister, Pat Deboard, of Omaha, NE.

Twelve Grandchildren and Fourteen Great Grandchildren

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday September 21, at the Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Miller officiating, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday September 20, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Joshua Owens, Bruce Owens, Steve Wilson, David Pate, Dennis Weaver and Darrell Sharp.

Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies of St. Bernard’s Auxiliary, Dr. Robert Lawrence, Jay and Bede Bratton, Dennis and Jeannie Bratton, and Mike Newcom.

The family request that lasting memorial be made to the March of Dimes, or the St. Bernard’s Ladies Auxiliary.
