Phyllis Hendrix

Phyllis Diane Hendrix, 64, of Searcy passed from this life on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at her home surrounded by friends and family. She was born to Arthur Townsend and Deloris Townsend Ford on June 23, 1957 in Jonesboro. Phyllis worked for Wal-Mart for many years and she was known for her compassionate and caring soul.  She enjoyed doing many crafts including bead working, jewelry, cross stitch, and painting. Phyllis also had an immense knowledge of flowers, her favorite flower being the Queen Anne's Lace. She was also an avid reader and her favorite authors were J.R. Ward and Anne Rice. Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother, Deloris Ford; stepfather, Lawrence Ford; sister, Vicki Townsend; granddaughter, Edith Blackstone; father-in-law, Murray Elton; and step mother, Rose Townsend.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jeff Hendrix of the home; daughter, LeighAnne Blackstone and her husband, Master Gunnery Sergeant Michael Blackstone of Jacksonville, North Carolina; father, Art Townsend of Ravenden Springs; brother, Bradley Townsend and his wife, Katy of Jonesboro; sister, Michele Strommer and her husband, Bear of Jonesboro; grandchildren, HaiLeigh, Joel, and Bray Blackstone; mother-in-law, Julie Elton; father-in-law, Jerry Hendrix and his wife, Dorothy; nieces and nephews, Caroline Greeno, Wesley Painter, Anya Townsend, and Egan Townsend.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Emerson Funeral Home with Freddy McCann officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Brad Townsend, Michael Blackstone, Wesley Painter, Matt Blackstone, Brent Hendrix and Junior Hendrix. Phyllis’ daughter, LeighAnne, and granddaughter, HaiLeigh, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
