Phyllis Ann Furnish, 72, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Bay, Phyllis moved with her family to Illinois at an early age and grew up there. She lived in Loves Park, Illinois before moving to Jonesboro in 1974. Phyllis was a Registered Nurse and retired from St. Bernard's Medical Center. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jonesboro and had taught elementary school in the church academy.
Phyllis enjoyed sewing, canning, reading and traveling. Her favorite thing to do however, was to spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents: James W. and Anna Marie France Phillips, daughter Shirlene Annette Furnish, and a half sister, Peggy Bess.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Lee Furnish of the home;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Gary Alan and Tena Furnish of Jonesboro;
1 daughter and son-in-law: Melissa Renee and Don Ussery of Dell;
3 brothers: James Wesley Phillips of Little Rock, Roger Keith Phillips of Millington, Tennessee, and Sammie June Maner of Knoxville, Tennessee;
1 sister, Elaine Casey of Arizona City, Arizona; and
1 grandson, Gary Logan Furnish.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Legere and Rev. James Decanter officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arkansas Health Department guidelines for indoor gatherings will be followed during hours at Emerson Funeral Home including the wearing of face masks and social distancing.
