Visitation
Funeral Service
Phyllis Ann Brooks, 81, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at NEA Baptist Hospital.
She was born July 25, 1944, in Batesville, AR, to Otis and Vada Bradley. The family moved to Jonesboro in 1951, where Phyllis remained, married, and raised her children. Gene and Phyllis Brooks married June 9, 1960, and would have celebrated their 66th anniversary this year.
She worked at Frolic Footwear for years, retiring from there. She loved to shop and laugh, and she enjoyed family gatherings, to which she would bring her famous pecan pies. She especially loved going to watch her grandsons play ball.
Phyllis placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and was of the Baptist belief. She loved to praise and sing in the choir at church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Vada Bradley; and her sister, Renee Bradley.
Family was very important and dear to her heart. Survivors include her husband, Donald “Gene” Brooks of the home; daughter Cynthia Fuqua (Mike); son Richard Brooks (Paula); grandchildren: Ritchie Brooks, Chelsea Reed (Robert), Jonathan Fuqua (Amber), Jarred Fuqua, Justin Fuqua, Jay Fuqua (Brea); great-grandchildren: Julia and Noah Reed, Noble Brooks, Caitlin, Chloe, and Chase. She is also survived by two brothers, Danny Bradley (Phyllis) and Gene Bradley (Greta) of Jonesboro, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
We sincerely want to thank all the doctors and nurses at NEA, especially in the ICU, and to Lexi for supplying Phyllis with her phone to listen to Christian music.
A funeral service is scheduled at Emerson Funeral Home on March 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM. A visitation will take place beforehand from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The burial will occur afterward at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
