Phyllis Angeline Ashlock, 72, of Bay, died Saturday morning at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in the Brown community near Bay, Phyllis was life-long resident of the Bay area. She was a 1959 graduate of Bay High School and earned a BS degree in accounting from Arkansas State University. Phyllis worked several years for General Electric in Jonesboro before devoting full time to the home and family farm.
Phyllis was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Bay where she was a pianist, Sunday school teacher and AWANA teacher. She loved traveling and enjoyed her BUNCO group. Phyllis was active with a gospel trio which traveled to area nursing homes to sing. She loved her church family, she always enjoyed playing the piano and she adored her grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ray Ashlock, her parents: Phillip and Nina Holt Morrison, and a brother, Rickey Morrison.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Lindsey Ashlock and Jeremy and Brandi Ashlock, all of Bay;
1 brother and sister-in-law, Maxie and Aliceteen Morrison of Bay; and
5 grandchildren: Sidney, Will, Whitley, Carter and Aiden Ashlock.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist of Bay with Rev. Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers include Greg Vincent, Bill Newton, Randy Mink, Brandy Scott, Brett Scott and Paul Spencer. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Bay.
