Phillip M. Niell, 80, of Jonesboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 28, 2024, departing from the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He lived most of his life in Jonesboro, and was born in Jonesboro on June 16, 1943 to Jack and Ima Jean Niell. Phillip was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and tinkering in his workshop on anything mechanical. He always found time to go on a cruise ship and enjoy the beauty of the Bahamas. Whenever his sons played music, he was usually there enjoying the show. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lana Niell, of the home; sons, Chad Niell; Richmond Niell and wife Barbara of Jonesboro; Bradley Niell and wife Katina of El Paso, Arkansas; daughter, Sherrie Lynn Hennessey and husband, Tom of Petersburg, Kentucky; brother, Jimmy Niell of Sontag, Mississippi; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Curtis Shatley officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 4:00 until service time. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers are Casey Hennessey, Tommy Hennessey, Denver Williams, Don Taylor, Greg Fisher, Darryl Davis and Bill Eddington.
