Phillip Dearall Ballew, 77, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on April 20, 2025. Born July 12, 1947, in Puxico, Missouri, to Edgar and Ethel Ballew, Phillip lived a life dedicated to his family and those he held dear.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Phillip found immense joy in the simple things: a day of fishing, a round of golf, and the quiet satisfaction of adding to his impressive collections of antiques, coins, pictures, and vinyl records. He also enjoyed a cold drink with friends and family. Beneath his sometimes stubborn exterior beat a generous and kind heart, always willing to lend a helping hand. His unwavering love and provision for his family were a testament to his character. Phillip was a man of Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ethel Ballew; and siblings, Bob Ballew, Judy Wilson, and Roger Ballew.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Bobbie Ballew, of the home; his children, Phillip (Laura) Ballew, Patrick (Courtney) Ballew, Barbara (Mark) Bailey, and Aundrea (Gary) Ballew; his grandchildren, Casara Ballew, Cheyenne Ballew, Madison Ballew, Brandon Ballew, Marcus Bailey, Kimberly Branscum, Dlyan Ballew, Oliver Ballew, Silas Ward, Mary Katherine Ward, Aubrey Taylor, and David Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Joseph Hall, Lilly Hall, Cameron Hall, Ariana Carson, Adrian Carson, Amaya Carson, Lilly Eva Rose Bailey, Charlett Wilson, Becca Branscum, Kenzzie Branscum, and Laila Layton; his sister, Linda Wilson. He will also be deeply missed by the many others whose lives he cared for and touched along the way.
A visitation celebrating Phillip’s life will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM.
