Phil Parker, 62, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was a lifetime resident of Jonesboro. Phil was an avid golfer, a recent inductee to the Arkansas Athletic Association Hall of Fame and a golf coach and volleyball coach. As a coach, his teams won 14 state championships, and competed in numerous state playoffs. He was highly regarded and loved as an amazing educator. Phil was also a basketball referee in Northeast Arkansas for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. His parents, Buddy and Annie Lee Parker preceded him in death.
He is survived by brother, Scott Parker (Linda) of Hot Springs; sister, Sarah McLain(Gary) of Stark City, Missouri; niece, Abby Osborn (Colter); nephews, Trevor Davis, Colton Davis, Andy Parker, Taylor Parker (Jonna); great nephews, Isaac Parker, Caiden Osborn and Cyler Osborn.
A memorial service will be 11:00 Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Mitch Ford officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private. Honorary pallbearers are Warner and Cat Calhoun, David Daniel, Dave Gooden, Jim DeVasier, Jim Ellis, Cathy Baker, Roy Hill, Marcus Patillo, Stephen Cox, John Frankel, Lee Brun, Joe Harlin, Darrell Burris, Steve Griffith, Mark Griffith, Brett Overman, Jerry and Pam Muckensturm, Dave Dailey, Rick Holman, Kristi Dobbins, Kristy Reed and Gwyn Jowers. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time.
