Obituary

Peggy June Stoner, 87, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Mrs. Stoner was born on June 24, 1939, in Grubbs, Arkansas, to Loyd and Carolyn Coleman.

She spent most of her life growing a family in Jonesboro after moving from Newport. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stoner was preceded in death by her loving husband Wayne Stoner, parents, Loyd and Carolyn Coleman, and her son Wayne Stoner Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Sherry Petz (Mike), grand-children Christy Dunn (Delton), Kyle Cook (Julie), Brandon Cook (Paige), Lindsey Stoner, great-grandchildren Madison Thompson, Cooper Cook, Alex Thompson, Macy Cook, and Logan Cook all of Jonesboro.

A visitation will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro on Tuesday, August 18th from 1 to 2 p.m., with a funeral service following at 2 p.m., with Gary Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Stoner was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured the time spent with family and loved making lasting memories. She served as office manager at M.E. Carter in Jonesboro after graduating from the Melton Business School and later dedicated her time to homemaking. Outside of work, she enjoyed camping and trips to Lake Charles, as well as church events and traveling with the grandchildren; Understanding the importance of education she graduated with her GED at the age of 47, an accomplishment made difficult while taking care of a family. She leaves behind a legacy that is reflected in the love of her family and friends.
