Peggy Stephens Modelevsky

Peggy Stephens Modelevsky, 88, of Fayetteville, formerly of Jonesboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville.

Peggy was born in Jonesboro and lived most of her life here before moving to Fayetteville a year ago. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and an honor graduate of Arkansas State University with a degree in History. She was a Realtor with Fred Dacus and Associates for several years and later was a travel director and coordinator for Simmons First Bank of Jonesboro.

For many years Peggy was an active member of both Temple Israel and First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. For several years she was music and choir director of Fisher Street United Methodist Church. Peggy was involved in several productions with the Foundation of Arts theatre and musicals as a singer and pianist. She was a life member of Junior Auxiliary and was an avid bridge player. Peggy loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks and enjoyed watching golf and tennis on television.

Peggy was preceded in death by husbands, Dr. A.C. Modelevsky and Paul Hanshaw; and by sisters Jerry Pannell and Martha Cobb.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughter-in-law: Paul Modelevsky of Little Rock and Dr. Steve and Teri Modelevsky of Jonesboro;
4 daughters and son-in-law: Brenda Modelevsky Hester and Dr. Sam Hester of Fayetteville,
Dr. Hannah Phillips and Rita Hart, both of Little Rock, and Bette Avery of Eugene, Oregon;
16 grandchildren: Matt Modelevsky, Rachel Modelevsky, Luke Modelevsky, Mary Margaret Modelevsky, Clay Modelevsky, Britt Wadley, Casey Hester, Heath Hester, Stephanie Harris, Dr. Aaron Spann, Dr. David Spann, Ross Willett, Karen Hultgvist, Cathy Mills, Jason Willett and Felicia Schuchardt;
12 great grandchildren, and
1 great, great grandchild.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2020, at Temple Israel Cemetery with Andrea Levy officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
