Peggy Jane Lane, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away on June 23, 2026 at her home. She was born on August 15, 1941 in Bono to Cecil and Ruth (Horton) Sandefer.

Peggy was a lifetime resident of northeast Arkansas, briefly moving to Alaska in 1961 after marrying her husband, Wilson Lane. She was a devoted member of the Bono Church of Christ, where she taught a children’s bible class for over 50 years. Peggy was an administrative assistant at The Learning Center for 20 years where she made many friendships and touched countless lives.

In her free time, Peggy enjoyed spending time outdoors and was a member of the Craighead County Master Gardeners for over 20 years where she served as president for a time. Peggy was a loving mother and grandmother who adored caring for and raising her family.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wilson Lane; brother, Dexter Sandefer; and sister, Hazel Goff.

She is survived by her daughters, Angie Bandy and husband Miles of Bono, Terri Inman and husband David of Jonesboro, and Tracey Snell of Bono; sisters, Bobbie Findley and Shelby Gillihan; grandchildren, Drew Johnson, Jon David Carmack, Hunter Snell, Kelsey Edwards, and Rachel Anderson; and nine great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Bono Church of Christ. A funeral service officiated by David Inman will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Bono with her grandsons, Drew Johnson, Jon David Carmack, and Hunter Snell serving as pallbearers. Jonathan Edwards, Blake Anderson, and Darren Findley will also serve as pallbearers.
