Peggy D. Kain, 79, of Cherokee Village, passed away on June 18, 2025 at White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born on January 11, 1946 in Batesville to Grover Barr and Bessie Smith Barr.
Peggy grew up in Cash on the family farm and was a 1964 graduate of Cash High School. She later moved to Jonesboro where she raised her family. She loved listening to Elvis and adored the color red. Peggy had a strong work ethic and always made sure her family was provided for. Family was always Peggy’s main focus. Growing up, she was a daddy’s girl; this relationship with her dad encouraged her love of fishing and spending time outdoors. Later in life, Peggy treasured her grandbabies and was especially proud of her grandson, Brandon, and his service in the United States Marines. As much as she loved her grandchildren, she earned her favorite title of “Great Gram” after her precious great-grandbabies were born.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Gail Barr and sisters, Jaquita Barr, Holly Darnell, and Rebecca Barr Hance.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Charles Kain of the home; children, Debra (Fred) Niemeyer of Cherokee Village, Michael (Ashley) Kain of Harrisburg, and Lorrie Kain of Harrisburg; brother, Gary Barr of Egypt; sister, Kay Best of Heber Springs; grandchildren, Treavor (Jessica), Cody (Carson), Axl (Caylin), Odin (Sami), Andi (Dillion), Brandon aka Doodle Dumpling, Kira, Brett, Stone, and Hannah; and her great-grandchildren, Chance, Sadie, Kolby, Hallie, Ellis, Olivia, Zaley, Mauve, Kyler, Ruby, Matilda, and Scarlet.
