Peggy Holmes

Peggy Holmes 81, of Jonesboro, formerly of Garland, Texas, passed from this life on April 26, 2022, at Craighead Nursing Center. She was born June 13, 1940, in Harrisburg, Arkansas to the late A.D. and Orean Bennett. She worked many years at ADT in Jonesboro and spent 17 years at Marlow Industries in Dallas, Texas as a chemist. She loved flower gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, gospel music, genealogy, and crocheting beautiful doilies. She had a love for people and she gave the “good” hugs. She was a Christian woman all of her life and had a strong love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Anita Jane May and Donna Kay May, and a great-nephew, Noah Walker.

She is survived by three children, Connie (Ron) Jones of Jonesboro, Jimmy May of Jonesboro, and Teresa May of Houston, Texas; one sister, Linda Gipson of Jonesboro, two brothers, Dan Bennett of Plano, Texas, and Tim Bennett of Lafe, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jon Jones of Jonesboro, Brandon Jones of Jonesboro, Ashley (Brian) House of Jonesboro, and Chris Freeze of Lewisville, Texas; great-grandchildren Seth Jones, Bailey Jones, and Hayes House, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Clements and Ron Jones officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with Dave Gipson, Seth Jones, Jon Jones, Chris Freeze, Brian House, Brent Gipson, and Blaine Gipson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time on Friday.
