Peggy Elizabeth Darouse

March 8, 1946 — March 16, 2024

Peggy Parker Darouse, formerly of Jonesboro, AR, died Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers on Saturday, March 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born March 8, 1946, to William Elliotte Parker and Helen Shelton Parker of Jonesboro, AR. Peggy graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1964 and attended Arkansas State University.  In May 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Darouse, and they raised two children while living in Jonesboro, AR. Following retirement Peggy and Dick relocated to their lake home in Mountain Home, AR.

Peggy is predeceased by her mother and father, two sisters, Anne Shelton Parker, and Jan Louise Parker West; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Patsy Darouse.

Survivors include her husband, Dick; son, Todd Darouse (Rhonda) of Bentonville, AR; daughter, Leigh Anne Darouse Moon (Jason) of Centerton, AR; sister, Joyce Parker Whitfield of Hot Springs, AR; six grandchildren including Tyler Darouse of Covington, LA, Trace Darouse and Taegan Darouse of Bentonville, AR; Kailey Chitmon, of Centerton, AR and Austin Chitmon, of Maumelle, AR and Jaylee Moon, of Centerton, AR and “Coco”, the family schnauzer.

Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many very special friends.

Peggy’s family and friends will remember her as a loving and devoted wife and mother to her children and grandchildren. For many years she enjoyed gardening, tennis, embroidery, and her needlepoint skills and preparing home cooked meals which included fresh shelled peas and corn-on-the-cob “put away” every summer for year-round country dinners for her family and larger gatherings. She was a great organizer and used her skills very well as an excellent bookkeeper and office manager for both family businesses, The Royal Pharmacy and Town and Country Insurance. She also was a member of Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary, volunteered with United Cerebral Palsy, and was a member of First United Methodist Church Jonesboro for over fifty years. Her many other blessings included countless weekends spent on Lake Norfork with grandkids, family and friends, travels to watch her son, Todd, play golf, long trips across and around the country, and numerous family pets through the years. But she felt her life’s most precious blessings were her six grandchildren. In the most recent years, she faced many health adversities but did so with grace and thankfulness for her husband, Dick and her family’s love and care.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation to be held on Saturday, March 23 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, at Emerson Funeral Home, 1629 E. Nettleton Avenue, Jonesboro, AR. A private graveside service will follow officiated by Willet A. Young. Memorials may be made to AR Children’s Hospital, PO Box 2222, Little Rock, AR  72203, or NEA Humane Society, 6111 E.
