Pauline Brady Rankin

Pauline Brady Rankin passed away at 9:00am on Monday, June 24th. She was 87 years old.

Born on December 18, 1931 in Arbor Grove, AR, Pauline resided in Jonesboro most of her life. She was active in the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. A longtime secretary at South School, she led a fruitful retirement full of travel and spending time with her family. She was a masterful cook, an avid reader, and an adept gardener. She delighted in tending to her plants and watching the birds in her backyard. She relished in any opportunity to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But her primary devotion was keeping her husband in order. Those two were together for 68 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents,  Florence and Lester Brady of Hoxie, as well as her sisters, Rebecca Brady of Hoxie, and Nina and Carrington Hudson of Hoxie. She is survived by her husband, John Rankin of Jonesboro, and her sister and her husband, Freddie and Vernon Stone of Jonesboro, and their two children, Travis and Charles Stone. She is also survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Bill Duke and Paula and Mike Thompson, her grandchildren, Joe and Adriane Duke, Jonathan Pyle,  Ellen and Brian Lisko, and Nate and Madeline Pyle.  Pauline also has 3 step grandchildren, Laura Thompson and husband Jake Kornegay, Corie Duke Goodman and Candi Duke Scott.  Her great-grandchildren are Dayton Duke, Margaret Duke, and Lucy Lisko.

There will be a memorial service from 6:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, June 27th in the Atrium of the First United Methodist Church on 801 S. Main in Jonesboro with John Miles and Patty Soward speaking. The family will host a private burial.  In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Humane Society, St. Jude's, or First United Methodist Church.
