Paul Walpole, 86, of Jonesboro passed from this life and went to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Craighead County Nursing Home. Paul was born March 4, 1927 to the late Archie and Lizzie Walpole in Kennett, Missouri. He has spent the last 48 years residing in Jonesboro before coming from Greenville, Mississippi. Paul was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Paul was a member of the Masonic lodge where he was a 32nd degree Mason and was also a life time member of the VFW. He was a World War II Veteran and part of the Marine Corp where he served in China. Paul was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved his family very much. He was also an avid gardener and fisherman.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and four brothers.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Betty Jean Walpole of the home. Two sons: Marty (Donna) Walpole of Bono and Mike (Sandra) Walpole of Paragould; One daughter: Paulette (Elliott) Wells of Kingston Springs, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Susan (Terrill) Taylor, Kristen (Butch) Bagsby, Mark (Christy) Walpole, Sheri (Philip) Sutton, Jason (Alison) Walpole, and Natalie (David) Blackwell; great grandchildren: Colby, Maddie, Jordan, Lizzie, Hayley, Josh, Hunter, and Mackenzie.
Services will be 2:30 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will include Mark Walpole, Jason Walpole, Terrill Taylor, Butch Bagsby, Colby Taylor, Philip Sutton, and David Blackwell.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 1:30 PM till the start of the service.
