Paul Smith, age 93 of Jonesboro, died Tuesday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
He was born in Covington, TN and had lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was retired from Cottonbelt Railroad and was a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents E.T. and Willie B. Timms Smith and two brothers Solon and Carey Smith.
Survived by his wife Erma Lee “Curley” Smith of the home, 3 daughters; Paula McGowan of Bono, Karen Gamblin and husband Jay of Jonesboro, and Kathy Woods and husband Wayne of Jonesboro.
2 brothers; Jerry Smith of Memphis, TN and Harold Smith of San Antonio, TX. 1 sister; Dorris Ann Slack of McKinney, TX.
6 grandchildren; Scott McGowan, Chris McBroome and wife Lisa, Clay Woods, Jason Woods, Jayme Henderson and husband Shaun, and Amanda McQuay and husband Matt. 8 great grandchildren; Lexie McGowan, Skylar Thompson, Kyle McBroome, Megan Angel, MaKala Henderson, Ashlee Henderson, Shaun Robert Henderson, and Raelee McQuay.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday October 8, 2010 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Curtis Shatley and Rev. Jerry Parker officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Emerson Funeral Home.
