Paul W. Duggleby

Paul W. Duggleby, 97, of Jonesboro, died Friday at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Davenport, Iowa and had lived in Jonesboro for 8 years having moved here from Horseshoe Bend. He was retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as Chief of Utilities and Operation after 36 years of service. Mr. Duggleby received his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. He worked on and received his Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from several schools; St. Ambrose College, University of Iowa, Boston College, and Harvard University. He also had some post graduate work from Black Hawk College. He enjoyed many things in life; golfing, camping, tennis, dancing, and traveling. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Trinity Lodge #208 in Davenport, Iowa, Mahossan Grotto, Zarapath Consistory, Moose Lodge, Family Motor Coach Association, Lions Club, and served 20 years as Director Emeritus for the Shriners. He also volunteered with area police to help check on homes while people were vacationing and volunteered at fairs in Craighead County, Salem, and Blytheville. Mr. Duggleby enjoyed life.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley Creech Duggleby of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldby & Dora Pahl Duggleby; his brothers, Robert Duggleby and Wayne Duggleby, who was an Episcopal priest.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Edward Pruett and Rev. Ross Burton officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa.
