Patricia (Pat) Abbott passed away August 15, 2023 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. She was born June 13, 1941 in Batesville.
Pat lived numerous places during her 82 years including Alicia, St. Louis, Missouri, Hoxie, Walnut Ridge, Jonesboro, Hardy and Lake City, but Lake City is where she called home. Pat attended Finch Baptist Church up until her health made it impossible. She loved reading her bible and her Christian romance books. When she couldn’t make it to church, she loved watching her preaching on TV. She loved listening to The Eagles and at times could be found on the couch with her eyes closed and her foot tapping. One of her proudest moments was when she received her G.E.D in her 40s. Pat retired from Thomas & Betts in Jonesboro.
It was the school of hard knocks and when her kids were growing up, they were told many times how Pat had to walk for miles in the rain, snow, cold and heat, “so suck it up”. She was genuine to a fault, a pussycat at heart and yet sugar coated nothing. She will be missed but the family knows she is home now, where she wanted to be.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Brooksie Crumpton; ex-husband, Doyle Abbott; sister, Carol Michaels; brother, Bill Huff; son-in-law, James (Jim) Gallion and sister-in-law, Penny Crumpton.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Tina Gallion; sons, Walter (Lisa) Abbott and Franklyn (Laura) Abbott; sister, Gwen (Raymond) Rainwater; brother, Doug Crumpton; grandkids, Ashley Knaper, Corey Abbott, Justin Abbott, Kristyn Abbott and Lauren Abbott; great-grandkids, Kaylee Dyer and Jack Beals; longtime friend, Henrietta Prescott; her fur baby, Bruiser and grand-furbaby, Daisy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who she loved very much.
A visitation will be held Saturday August 26, 2023 from 1-2 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.
