Patricia (Pat) Deck Strickland of Cherokee Village Arkansas received her heavenly wings at home on Monday, March 9, 2026. Pat was born on March 17th, 1945, to Bernie Austin and Betty Jo Deck in Detroit Michigan.
Pat's bucket list had a hole in it that could never be filled. She loved to travel with her husband Bill (53 years) and enjoyed many sports including snow skiing, water skiing, dancing, track, canoeing, and swimming to mention a few. Pat made many friends that became lifelong friends. Her hands were never idle. She was very talented at many different hand crafts. Pat was always making something for someone any time she was sitting still.
She was of Baptist faith and a member of Fellowship Southern Baptist Church. Pat primarily worked in the banking industry and retired from Union Planters Bank in Jonesboro Arkansas. She attended school in Snyder Texas and Arlington State College.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, and half-brother, Mike Deck of Caruthersville, Illinois.
Survivors include husband Bill Strickland of the home, Cherokee Village; children, Stacy Caplinger of Cherokee Village, Shannon (Andrew) Maxwell of Pensacola Fl, and Chesney (Tra) Shortnacy of Cherokee Village; and Brother, Bill (Vanessa) Barber of Fargo, ND.
10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren
And bonus nephew Ted Boling and other nieces and nephews
The visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Emerson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Darin Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Lower Cain Island Cemetery in Lake City. The pallbearers will be Will Shortnacy, Casey Ragan, Beau Ragan, Balon Ragan, Baxter Barnes, and Aiden Lucas.
