Pastor David E. Strait, 59, of Jonesboro, died Sunday evening at his home of natural causes.
Born in Rosedale, Mississippi, Pastor Strait lived in Trumann before moving to Jonesboro in 1980. He was the pastor of Eastside Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he was a King James Bible Fundamentalist. Bro. Strait was a preaching, teaching, soul-winning, loving pastor at Eastside for almost 28 years. He was also a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was preceded in death by his parents: James W. and Berta White Strait.

His Wife: Mary Mitchusson Strait of the home;
2 Daughters and sons-in-law: Cynthia and Clif Whitlock of Jonesboro, and Sarah and Jason Sipe of Sedalia, Missouri;
3 Brothers and sisters-in-law: Lynn and Diane Strait, and Pastor James and Carolyn Strait, all of Jonesboro, and Pastor Donald and Kay Strait of Pocahontas;
6 Grandchildren: David Gregory, Zachary Gregory, Lauren Gregory, Jordan Whitlock, Abbey Sipe and Noah Sipe.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at Eastside Baptist Church with Pastor Don Robinson, Pastor Doug Ferris, Pastor Joby Steele, Bro. Lynn Hetler, and Bro. Darryl Kelly officiating.
Active pallbearers include: Phillip Keeling, Tyndale Robinson, Tim Miller, Larry Lamkin, Conrad Mobley, Jim Hogg, Perry Greenway and Paul Gill.
Honorary pallbearers include: Macky Moore, Jerry Layman, Buddy George, Ralph Hawes, Wayne Dollar, Kyle Williams, Leon McNatt, Gary Furnish, Dempsey Slinkard, Richard Greenway, Eric Moore, Frank Hannah, Philip Hetler, Bart Morrison, Tommy Drewett, Jim Virgin, Ronnie Platz, Bud Stahl, Charles Rosse and Gregg Hogg.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
