Ottis B. George

September 28, 1922 — March 27, 2006

Ottis George, 83, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Monday afternoon, March 27, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Athens, Alabama, Mr. George lived in Trumann, Marked Tree, and Norhtbrook, Illinois before moving to Jonesboro in 1987. He was a retired welding supervisor for Roseman Mower Corporation of Glenview, Illinois. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II where he was awarded a Silver Star along with several Bronze Stars.

Mr. George was a charter member of the Valley Ridge Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and was preceded in death by his sister, Leona White.

Survivors include:

His Wife: Opal George of the home;

2 Sons and Daughters-in-law:
Terry Wayne and Patricia George of Jonesboro, and
Don and Kim George of Kenosha, Wisconsin;

2 Brothers: Leo George, and
Hollice George, both of Trumann;

6 Grandchildren: Ami Erickson, Chris George, Kelly Rubio, Eric George,
Melissa Bodeker, and Bryan George; and

5 Great Grandchildren: Caleb Erickson, Cameron Erickson, Jakob Rubio,
Nikolas Rubio, and Christian George.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
Deacons of Valley Ridge Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.
