Oma Alene Dooley, 83, of Brookland passed from this life Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born to the late William Dawson and Esther Clairday on September 17, 1936 in Vian, Oklahoma.
Oma has resided in the Brookland area for most of her life and was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church.
She diligently worked to make the family farm successful as well as caring for her home and family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning. Oma was well known for her homemade biscuits and pickles. She expressed her love for the Lord by lovingly serving her church and community in a variety of ways.
She loved helping others and was always taking care of people anyway that she could. Most of all Oma loved her family and spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, Oma is preceded in death by her Husband, Ray Dooley; Son, David Dooley; three brothers, Jerry Clairday, Delmar Clairday, and J.L. “Son” Clairday; two sisters, Louetta Scott and Alice Beason; grandson, Brenton Dooley; and great grandson, Tyler Hudson.
Oma is survived by one son, Keith (Angela) Dooley of Jonesboro; two daughters, Sandra Cates and Donna (Keith) Wells both of Brookland; two sisters, Janie Wilson of Jonesboro and Joyce Powell of Walcott; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Emerson Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2020 at Emerson Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Jolly and Brother Andy Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Terry Grimes, Hunter Grimes, Tony Bradley, Bobby Cannon, Elmer Sanford, and Carl Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be the Silver Strands Senior Adult Ministry of Temple Baptist Church.
We will be following the CDC and Arkansas Department of Health guidelines. Only 50 people including the family will be allowed in the building at a time. A face mask will be required upon entering the building and social distancing will be enforced. We will be streaming the funeral service via the Emerson Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend the service.
