Ollie Ruth Sweat

Ollie Ruth Sweat, 84, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Place. She was born October 4, 1940 in Weiner to the late Oliver and Tensie Taylor. Ollie was of the Baptist belief. She loved to cook, watch her soap operas and take care of her house plants. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Ollie was preceded in death by her spouse, George Sweat Jr.; daughter, Teresa Sweat; 2 brothers, Joelee Taylor, Larry Taylor and 2 sisters, Emma Crenshaw and Geraldine Sampson.

Survivors include her 3 sons: Eddie Lee Jones, Charles Sweat, Greg Sweat; daughter, Lorraine Vann; 2 brothers, Bobby Joe Taylor, Trent Taylor; sister, Vanessa King; 3 grandchildren: Roxanne Sweat, Andre Crenshaw, Aleecia Sweat; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Nelson officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
