Olevia Esther Roberts

April 12, 1915 — August 24, 2009

Olevia E. Roberts, 94, of Jonesboro, formerly of Strawberry, died Monday, August 24, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Olevia was born in Tuckerman and lived in Strawberry before moving with Eulan to Jonesboro in 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Jonesboro where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class and United Methodist Women.

While living in Strawberry, Olevia was busy caring for her two boys and helping Eulan on the farm. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She pieced and sewed many quilts throughout her life and continued to piece quilts until her sight failed.

Olevia was preceded in death by her husband, Eulan Roberts; one brother: Ben Halliburton and three half brothers: Roy Webb, Vaughn Webb and Johnny Webb.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Darryl and Judy Roberts of Jonesboro and Paul and Carolyn Roberts of Bakersfield, California;

1 brother: Pawnee Halliburton of Tuckerman;

1 half brother: Larry Webb of Stigler, Oklahoma;

4 grandchildren and their spouses: Olivia and Lynn Lancaster, Bryan and Selena Roberts, Blake and Leslie Roberts and Paula Roberts; and

7 great grandchildren: Christopher Lancaster, Justin Roberts, Brianna Roberts,
Lillian Roberts, Robert Roberts, Haylee Roberts, and Cameron Roberts.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Christopher Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers include: Danny Halliburton, Benny Don Halliburton, Pawnee Parr Halliburton, Shane Halliburton, Tim Simpson and Chris Halliburton.

Honorary pallbearers include the staff and management of Craighead County Nursing Center.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
