Ola Halfacre Bishop

June 3, 1936 — March 16, 2019

Ola Halfacre Bishop, 82, of Jonesboro, departed this life Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born in Craighead County the third oldest of 11 children of Lloyd O. and Dena Webb Halfacre.

Ola was a loyal, devoted daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She was born June 3, 1936, and was of the Baptist faith. She so loved and believed in her Heavenly Father and often referred to Him as "her best friend."

Ola graduated Valley View High School in 1955 and moved to Chicago to join her brother and sister, seeking employment. She worked at Taylor Forge Pipe Works as an expediter. Ola returned to Jonesboro in 1963 after marrying the love of her life, Max L. Bishop, to raise their daughter. She attended Jonesboro Business College and became a bookkeeper at Arkansas State University where she retired.

Ola had many artistic interests. She was a stylist, an artist, writer of poetry and songs, decorator, seamstress, floral arranger and landscaper. Ola loved her flower gardens and saw beauty in most everything. She brought beauty to the city of Jonesboro with her artistic decorating at Christmas time, winning 1st place in the City Contests more than once.

Ola was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Max L. Bishop, grandfather Ollie Robert Halfacre, father Lloyd O. Halfacre, mother Dena Webb Halfacre, 5 brothers: Lester, Olin Ray, Lloyd Dewayne, Gary Allen and Clinton Lee Halfacre, four sisters: Beatrice Louise Halfacre, Novell Touchstone, Kathleen Halfacre and Wilma Halfacre.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Vicki Lynn and Kurt Schuchardt of Jonesboro;
two grandchildren: Landon Kyle Schuchardt and Lauren Kirby Schuchardt, both of Jonesboro; and one sister, Colleen Raglin of Chicago; and several nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Michael Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend deepest appreciation and thanks for the excellent and compassionate care given to Ola by the staff of Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House during her final days.
