Odessa Alread

Odessa Alread, 86, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was born on September 30, 1928 in Ash Flat, Arkansas to the late Caleb and Reaney Weaver. Odessa was a dedicated member of the Nettleton Church of Christ. She taught the children’s bible classes for many years at the Westbury, Stafford, and Eldridge Road Church of Christ in Texas. She was also a cosmetologist in Detroit, Houston and Memphis and later owned the Goobertown Grocery store. Odessa was a good person, always looking to help someone in need and a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie Alread; two sisters and four brothers.

Odessa is survived by her daughter, Debbie Spencer (Jerry) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Ashlee Ladyman and Alecia Sparrow; great grandchildren, Colton Lee Sparrow, Addison Kay Sparrow, and Brett Asher Ladyman.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Richard Blackford officiating. Burial will follow at Marked Tree Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Josh Sparrow, Jonathan Blackford, Ryne Kimbrough, Christopher Spurlock, Jeff Ladyman, and Jason Blackford. The honorary pallbearers will be Colton Sparrow and Brett Ladyman.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home.
