Norma Jean Butts

Norma Jean Butts, 80, of Bono, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Born on June 22, 1944, in Clover Bend, Arkansas, she was the cherished daughter of the late George and Muriel Fowler.

Norma was a devoted member of the Bono Church of Christ, where she found joy and purpose working in the church pantry for many years. She was actively involved in the Bono Busy Ladies Club, the Bono Senior Citizens Center, and her ladies class at church. She had a deep love for her family and particularly treasured watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. Norma shared an interest in antique tractors with her late husband, Norman, as proud members of the Bono Antique Tractor Club. Her dedication to education was evident in her 29 years of service as secretary at Westside Junior High School, where she touched countless lives with her kindness.

In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Norman William Butts, and her dear brothers, Jimmy Fowler of Clover Bend and Bill Fowler of Pine Bluff.

She is survived by her loving children, Michael Butts (Tammy) of Imboden, Arkansas, and Kimberly Minton (Anthony) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and her sister, Anna Mae Fowler Sanders of Little Rock. She was the proud grandmother of Lanai Butts Fields (Kenny), Noah Minton, McGuire Butts, and Emily Minton, and the cherished great-grandmother of Azlyn Fields, Josiah Fields, and Kindred Fields.

Family and friends are invited to honor Norma’s life at a visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 1-2 p.m.at the Bono Church of Christ. A funeral service, officiated by Richard Akins, will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia, Arkansas.

Pallbearers honoring Norma’s memory will be Jeff Cook, Roger Swindle, Mark Fowler, Scott Fowler, Tyler Lloyd, Brandon Martin, Stoney Hall and John Glidewell. Honorary pallbearers include Robert Cook and Richard Meadows.

Norma’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will be cherished forever.
