Nettie B. Prunty Delaney, was born on October 25, 1945 to Orlean Prunty Clark and Leonard Tyson in Augusta, AR and she was the eldest of three children. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Clark, her sister Earnestine Clark and her granddaughter Katina Crutchfield. She confessed a hope in Christ at a young age. Nettie was raised by her grandparents, Matthew and Mamie Prunty, who also preceded her in death.
Nettie and her family moved to Jonesboro in the early sixties and united with First Baptist Church under the pastor ship of Rev. H. L. Lewellen. She attended Booker T. Washington High School.
Nettie moved to Hot Springs, AR where she completed her formal education receiving her GED and made a career for herself as a home health provider. She loved cooking, fishing, shopping and gardening. While in Hot Springs she united with Visitors Chapel AME church.
Nettie returned to Jonesboro and reunited with First Baptist Church. Her presence in the congregation was always visible through her praise and worship. She served on the Usher Board when her work at the Turtle Creek Mall would allow it. She served on the Literacy Council and she also served as a foster grandparent in the Jonesboro Public school system.
Nettie moved to her brand new life on Friday, June 7, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Orlean Clark of Jonesboro; one brother Matthew (Jimmy) Prunty, Jr. of Trumann, AR ; four sons, Lester (Marine) Vann, Corey Prunty of Hot Springs, AR, Dale (Ann) Shaw of Temple, TX, Darrell ( Nathalia) Prunty of Lake Charles, LA; one daughter, Sherry Prunty of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren, Kevin Clark, Lynne Clark, Chris Collins, Rodney Crutchfield, Destiny Shaw, Nicholas Shaw, Kourtnie Prunty, Monique Wimbley, Kavon Prunty and Candance Lambert; eight great grandchildren, Jeffery, Javier, Jasmine, Rodney Jr., Shaun, Markayla, Chris Jr., Chloe’; five uncles, John Prunty, Sr., Floyd (Lou) Prunty, Lewis (Linda) Prunty all of Jonesboro, AR, James(Bessie ) of Rockford, IL, Bobby( Pat ) of California and a host of nephews, nieces , cousins and other relatives .
Services will be Saturday at 12:00pm at the First Baptist Church on Kitchen Street in Jonesboro with Rev. Curtis Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time.
