Nettie Lee Holmes

Nettie Lee Holmes, 94, of Jonesboro passed from this life Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Community Compassion Center. She was born April 4, 1925 in Monette to the late Floyd Marvin and Maudie Marie Hyman Maxwell. Nettie lived with her husband William Gus Holmes in Memphis where she worked for Sears for 48 years as the manager of the credit department. When they retired they moved to Jonesboro. She was a member of the Grand Order of the Eastern Star and of the Baptist belief.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William Gus Holmes; two sisters, Nell Mattix, Betty Shoe; three brothers, Gerald, Marvin Jr. and Billy Maxell.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Marva Shoe of Greenbrier; two sister-in-laws, Hazel Maxwell of Jonesboro, Veta Maxwell of Lexington, Tennessee and a host of nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

She was much loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 am in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gary Gipson officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 am prior to the service.
