Nellie Viola Copeland

Nellie Viola Irene Copeland, 92, of Marmaduke, passed from this life on Monday morning, August 26, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Nellie lived many years in Jonesboro where she worked for St. Bernards Hospital and Frolic Footwear before retirement. Following retirement she moved to Marmaduke to be near family.

Nellie was a member of Alsup Baptist Church south of Jonesboro.

Nellie enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and many games and activities with her family including horseshoes, dominoes, card games such as rummy, spades and hearts as well as puzzles and Yahtzee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Copeland and a brother, J.B. Atnip.

Survivors include 3 sons: J.D. Davidson of Lake City, E.J. Davidson of Marmaduke and William Davidson of Jonesboro;

1 brother, Robert Atnip of Greenville, Tennessee;

19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
