Naomi Rae Smithwick

March 12, 1935 — March 11, 2021

Naomi Rae Smithwick, 85, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born to the late G.C. and Stella Harrell in Brownwood, Missouri on March 12, 1935. After living most of her younger life in Chaffe, Missouri, Naomi has resided in Jonesboro since 1963 after coming from Kansas City, Missouri. She was of the Baptist belief. Naomi was an avid fabric lover and enjoyed sewing quilts and pillow cases with her friends. She also made baby blankets for her grands. She loved canning food that she grew from her gardening and watching the sunset. Naomi worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years at St. Bernard’s and was an ICU Supervisor. Most of all Naomi loved her family, especially her grands. She was the matriarch of her family and many sought out her advice.

In addition to her parents, Naomi is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Smithwick; brothers, G.C. “Butch” Harrell and Dan Harrell; son, Tim Smithwick; daughter, Carol Smithwick; and great grand, Levi William Hill.

Naomi is survived by three sons, Steve Smithwick of Jonesboro, Curt (Alma) Smithwick of Jonesboro, and David (Jackie) Smithwick of Atlanta; daughters, Linda (Glenn) Tacker, Mary Doty, and Joy Beuley all of Jonesboro; brother, Jess (Arlene) Harrell of Chaffee, MO; sister, Janet Welter of Kelso, Missouri; grandchildren, Andy Wicker, Samantha (Garrett) Golden, Jake (Ashley) Hill, Brianna Smithwick, and Andrew Smithwick; four step grands, Macario Gonzales, Jerry Gonzales, Jelena Gonzales, and Arianna Gonzales; 13 great grands, and one great great grandson.

A visitation will be Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

A Memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m.  Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Steve Smithwick, Curt Smithwick, David Smithwick, Andy Wicker, Jake Hill, Gage Golden, Andrew Smithwick,
